Hi everyone,
I’m taking a little break from memorizing physical assessment techniques and listening to heart sounds for a quick minute. I just wanted to let people know that I have started on a birth control to treat my hormonal acne – I just haven’t had the time to finish up my PCOS series and post my results yet so never made mention of it. I am thinking of doing a very in-depth and quite personal “journal” about my experience with it. I will be tracking my skin updates, weight changes and address any side effects to my body to provide a good record of the experience.
My question is, will that be helpful to any of you? And, will you still be interested/motivated to read if I password-protected them? I want to password protect them because I will be pretty open and descriptive – and it’s not something I would want just any random stranger to stumble upon, read and judge.
I do want to make it available to readers who would find it really helpful though.
Please let me know! I will provide you with the password to view.
If there isn’t any interest though, that’s ok too. I just didn’t want to automatically private the posts and withhold any information that any of you might find helpful.

I just wanted precise that if ever you are prescribed with Cyproterone you need to get a liver enzyme check every year.
I finally went to see my gynecologist (a new one) who seems to be way much more competent than the previous and stated that it was outrageous that my doctor never insiste on a yearly liver enzyme check since the medicine in 1992 was removed from the European market due to the toxicity level observed and the fact that it caused liver cancer (which is scientifically prove). At that time the medication was given in doses of 500 mg for short term uses and it caused many hepatitic (spelling please) cancers during the 90s in Europe.
The main use of my medication was almost like a BC pill (knowing that most BC pills taken during long terms anyway are base on Cyproterone progesterone compounds) but its initial use was to cure prostate cancer, sadly it countered also by bringing up liver issues.
Careful, even if nowadays we take the medication in small doses, we take it for long terms so it’s exactly the same thing. I’m getting my blood tests in 2 weeks plus an ultrasound to see if my cysts are still present.
I don’t want to scare you, but I just thought it’s best I tell you since you’re a nursing student and you and I know most how awful getting an incurable disease it.
Post more PCOS related things, I think it’ll be helpful for many people to understand, for general medical culture and just to trace out an acne source like many others.
Sure! I’d be interested in your experience with the Birth Control, since I want to try it myself sometime soon.
I will look forward to it
I would definitely be interested in reading your experience with the BC pill. I’m on one too, but not for acne. I guess because of that, it hasn’t worsened or helped my acne at all >_<
